Quantum Partners advises Omnes Capital on the sale of Tennis-Point shares to SIGNA Retail

E-commerce / Sports / Tennis and running articles

Project highlights

E-commerce has become an essential part of retailers’ and brands’ sales strategy also in the sport equipment sector. The share of tennis rackets sold online in Germany has been growing significantly in recent years and, in 2014, amounted to approx. 35% of the total German racket market. This offers an attractive perspective for online sport shops, not only with respect to tennis rackets, but for the entire tennis product range.

Tennis-Point is the undisputed market leader in the tennis equipment retail segment with significantly higher margins than its nearest competitor. Compared to its five main competitors, Tennis-Point offers the widest range of tennis products and brands. Thanks to strong long-lasting relationships with almost all the most sought-after brands, Tennis-Point can offer a wide range of exclusive products and an early launch of the latest collections.

For the purpose of expansion, Tennis-Point has brought two venture capital providers on board, Omnes Capital and Vorwerk Ventures, who have provided strategic management support in addition to capital. After years of successful cooperation, the aim of the investors was to transfer their stake to an investor who will support Tennis-Point in its further expansion.
