Gross Margin
Gross margin describes the difference between revenue and the directly attributable variable costs and, in substance, usually corresponds to the first-level contribution margin. It is the most important indicator of a business model’s fundamental profitability and shows what contribution the sale of a product or service makes towards covering fixed costs and generating profit.
